The Thoughtful Intent that Deepens Our Commitment to St. Louis
Mike Crossno Celebrates One Year as Director of Community Impact

St. Louis, MO – Over the past year, Together Credit Union has increased its community support thanks to Mike Crossno, who took the reins as the Director of Community Impact.

"Our primary focus has been on building deeper, stronger relationships with our community partners through volunteerism, impactful financial education, and meaningful financial support—laying a foundation for sustained growth and community impact," said Crossno.

Crossno's efforts are paying off. Together Credit Union employees volunteered 1,296 hours in their communities in 2024, impacting over 25 local nonprofits.

Together Credit Union's financial education programs are also evolving, with youth classes incorporating more interactive games, such as a budget scenario game that utilizes jellybeans and a credit 101 game that employs tower blocks. New courses for older adults were also added, including "Elder Financial Abuse" and "Living in Retirement." These improvements contributed to a rise in attendance,137% over the previous year.

"We are going to keep building on our momentum," said Crossno, who is working with his team to organize 40 financial education classes this year.

Under his leadership, Together Credit Union continues to strengthen relationships with its community partners through ongoing efforts with measurable impacts, including Gateway Region YMCA, International Institute of St. Louis, The Soulard School, and Hope Ignites. Crossno is also examining how Together Credit Union can assist with tornado recovery efforts following the March and May storms across the region.

"Right now, we are focused on supporting our partners, like the Gateway Region YMCA, who have boots on the ground in the high-needs areas," said Crossno. "Recovery is going to take a long time, and we plan to assist every step of the way."

Initiatives underway include a school supply drive at all Together Credit Union branches in July for the Little Bit Foundation, a local nonprofit that provides essential services for students in need at area schools where 90 to 100% of students qualify for the free and reduced lunch program, including many students impacted by the recent tornado.

Crossno, who served as a Together Credit Union Branch Manager for three years before moving into the Director of Community Impact role, has over 20 years of experience in the credit union industry. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Missouri – St. Louis.
