Together Foundation’s Two Scholarship Programs Collectively Awards $17,250 to Deserving, College-Bound Seniors

Saint Louis, MO - The Together Foundation, Together Credit Union’s charitable organization, has awarded $3,750 in college scholarships to three graduating seniors from the Greater St. Louis Area through the Together Foundation Community Scholarship program. This announcement is in addition to the June 1st release, in which the Together Foundation awarded $13,500 in college scholarships through the Vince Jacknewitz Scholarship program.

“We are thrilled to support these accomplished students as they advance to the next stage in their academic journeys,” said Pier Alsup, Chief Diversity Officer for Together Credit Union and Together Foundation Board Chair.

The foundation launched the Together Foundation Community Scholarship program in 2019 to fulfill the need for more community-based scholarships in the Greater St. Louis Metropolitan Area.  The following recipients will each receive a $1,250 college scholarship to help offset the costs associated with post-secondary education expenses for the upcoming 2021-2022 school year:

  • Katelyn Blessing, St. Louis Public School District-McKinley Classical Leadership Academy High School, Webster University
  • Kyra Afolabi, Incarnate Word Academy, University of Missouri – Kansas City
  • Micaela Uy, Mehlville High School, University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in St. Louis

The Together Foundation Community Scholarship was posted to St. Louis Graduates’ Scholarship Central to raise awareness of the scholarship program. The application is open to prospective and current collegians, ages 15 to 23, who live or work in St. Louis City, St. Louis County, St. Charles County, and Jefferson County, MO, as well as Madison County and St. Clair County, IL.  As part of the application process, applicants submitted an information packet, which included a record of academic achievements, letters of recommendation, a list of scholastic and community activities, and a written or video essay.

To date, Together Foundation and Together Credit Union have awarded more than $200,000 in college scholarships. The foundation also provides financial education and development opportunities to students in middle and high school.  Learn more by visiting https://www.togethercu.org/home/about-us/together-foundation.
