Two High School Seniors Named for Together Foundation Community Scholarship

Saint Louis, MO – The Together Foundation is thrilled to recognize Donovan Dixson of Hazelwood West High School and Drew Clutes of Kirkwood High School as the recipients of the inaugural Together Foundation Community Scholarship.

Pictures of Donovan and Drew“I am profoundly grateful to have been selected for this scholarship. As a college bound student, I have learned to cherish these opportunities and I am thankful for the financial support from the Together Credit Union. This scholarship will allow me to achieve my goal of higher learning and obtaining a college degree,” said Dixson, who plans to attend Washington University.

Developed to fulfill the need for community-based scholarships in the Greater St. Louis area, the inaugural Together Foundation Community Scholarship helps offset the costs associated with post-secondary education expenses during the fall semester of the 2020-2021 school year.

“We are thankful to assist these young men,” said Pier Yvette Alsup, Chief Community Engagement & Social Responsibility Officer. “We look forward to continuing the Together Foundation Community Scholarship program to help deserving students fulfill their college aspirations.”

The scholarship application was posted to St. Louis Graduates’ Scholarship Central to raise awareness of the opportunity, and open to prospective and current collegians, ages 15 to 23, who live or work in St. Louis City, St. Louis County, St. Charles County, and Jefferson County, MO, as well as Madison County and St. Clair County, IL. As part of the application process, applicants submitted an information packet, which included a record of academic achievements, letters of recommendation, a list of scholastic and community activities, and a written or video essay.

“I am paying for my own college education. Because of that, I will not have unlimited funds to allow me to participate in many of the extra experiences that Mizzou has to offer. My dream is to participate in a study abroad program using both my major of Computer Science/IT and my minor in German. Receiving this scholarship will help make it possible to afford one of these programs without furthering my debt,” said Clutes, who will be attending the University of Missouri in Columbia.

Since 1994, the Together Foundation, in conjunction with Together Credit Union, has awarded more than $185,000 in scholarships. The foundation also serves residents in the St. Louis Metropolitan area by providing grants to local nonprofits whose mission and values align with the foundation’s goals, and expertise for financial empowerment programs targeting areas with high financial needs.
