Dave Tate Inducted into HCUA’s Hall of Fame

Saint Louis, MO – The Heartland Credit Union Association (HCUA) has inducted Dave Tate, Together Credit Union retiree, into its Hall of Fame. He was honored during HCUA’s Convention & Annual Meeting.

“When I joined the credit union in 1982, we were still clearing share drafts through First National Bank of St. Louis, ATMs were on the horizon, and our data systems ran through the League Data Services of Missouri. We had ten share suffixes and ten loan suffixes. I never envisioned spending over 39 years with the credit union. We worked hard and had a lot of fun providing an ever-expanding list of products and services for our members,” said Tate in his acceptance speech.

Tate retired in the spring after a long career of serving members with excellence and living the credit union motto, People Helping People. During his tenure, he worked in several areas of leadership, advancing the credit union from 25,000 members to 134,000 members strong.

“Dave brought a lot of value to our organization over the years he worked here. First and foremost, he always focused on the member, and would process decisions with ensuring that the Member Experience was considered first. This has really helped new employees who have joined the organization and were able to see this example in action.

Additionally, Dave was relied on across many different areas because of his vast knowledge and experience. He openly shared his understanding of the business and enjoyed helping others,” shared Tom Kraus, Chief Operating Officer.

Tate also served on the Credit Union National Association (CUNA) Operations & Member Experience Council, which focused on the future of the branch, fraud trends, and digital transformation. This invaluable opportunity helped him build a network of experienced and knowledgeable credit union experts to share ideas that benefitted Together Credit Union and the credit union movement. He continues to support the credit union as a retiree, helping with the credit union’s philanthropic endeavors.

Heartland Credit Union Association (HCUA) is a not-for-profit trade association providing services and support to meet the leadership, advocacy, education, and financial service needs of more than 200 credit unions in Kansas and Missouri. HCUA developed the Hall of Fame Award to honor a credit union employee or retiree who has given outstanding lifetime achievement to unite, strengthen, and advance the credit union movement.
